I finally found a cake plate with dome that will fit my 3 layered cakes. I was a bit worried about placing the order after reading a few of the reviews that received a broken item. This was not the case with me. I loved it so much that I purchased one for my son's household so when I am there visiting, I can make and store his favorite 3 layer coconut cake.

The first plate I received was broken, as so many more that I read about in other reviews of this item. It is a combination of inadequate packing and rough shipping. However, Amazon very promptly shipped another one. The plate and dome themselves were lovely. The dome IS taller than the average, which is what I wanted, but is NOT as big in diameter as the standard domes I already have. In fact, it will be difficult to store a 9" frosted cake without extreme care, and it will probably touch on the sides. The plate is very adequate to hold a large cake, but they undercut the diameter of the dome, in my opinion.

I ordered fourteen of these to be used as centerpieces for my daughter's wedding. Great product, great price. With PRIME shipping, was very nice not to have to find this many at retail brick and motar stores. HOWEVER, of the fourteen, four of them arrived broken. There were no air pillow packs used in packing and just a little brown paper thrown in the outer box to protect the inner box. Of course, Amazon.com was great at replacing, but did want to forewarn others to expect breakage when the item(s) arrive.

While this is a beautiful cake saver that arrived in perfect condition, I wouldn't exactly call it "tall". I ordered it for my mother to replace one that was broken and was surprised to find that it wasn't nearly as tall as the old one. Kind of bummed but I didn't return it. I'll keep searching for one that truly is "tall".
