The Best Blues Brothers Album   October 4, 2008
Elwood Blues (Los Angleas, CA USA)
Briefcase Full of Blues is the best and will remain the best Blues Brothers album ever recorded it was the first album by The Blues Brothers album I ever got I have it on record and CD if you ever by the chance see this album in stores BUY IT!!! It will be worth it the best tracks on this album I think are "Soul Man" & "Rubber Biscuit". John Belushi (Joliet Jake, vocals) and Dan Aykroyd (Elwood, deep background vocals) were at there best when they recorded this album at the Universal Ampitheader even though John is dead and is his brothers Jim (Zee Blues, new lead singer) took Jake's place I hope new Blues Brothers albums come out soon and they better not be a complation album I want a new live album or studio album but anyway Briefcase Full of Blues will remain the best Blues Brothers album.

The Blues Live Today..Thanks To The Brothers   July 18, 2008
Bryan (Fort Worth, TX USA)
It's one of those you remember where you were and who were with moments when the Blues Brothers first appeared on SNL in 1977. Back in those days we had SNL parties and I remembered how everyone was floored when Jake (Belushi) unlocked the handcuffs and opened the briefcase. Elwood (Akroyd) pulled out the harmonica and began tearing it up with 'Soul Man'. Then it was Belushi's turn with the lead vocal. Awesome! It was history in the making. Possibly one of the greatest alter-ego acts of all time.

And from the standpoint of impact on the music industry, it revived the true roots of blues to a whole new generation. When the movie was first released in the miserably hot summer of 1980, it was a word-of-mouth sensation. Underscoring blues brilliant legends such as John Lee Hooker and Cab Calloway.

I'm in awe at just how re-masterfully the CDs are today from their first vinyl releases in the 70's. Timeless sounds and an essential investment to any music library.

akroyd loves the blues, belushi grew up on blues in chicago, they are backed by an all-star band, and playing some fabulous rhythm and blues. you know 'em, you love 'em, get 'em.

Their Aim Was True   March 7, 2008
Mr. Richard D. Coreno (Berea, Ohio USA)
Starting out as a musical sketch on Saturday Night Live and performing at a New York City after-hours bar for SNL cast, crew and guests, comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi took their appreciation for the blues and R&B through the Blues Brothers and delivered a new appreciation for the music in an era of punk, stadium rock and disco.

Recorded live at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles, California, the vocals of Joliet Jake and Elwood Blues are bolstered by an all-star lineup of musicians, including Matt Murphy and Steve Cropper (g), "Duck" Dunn (b), Paul Shaffer (k), Tom Scott (sax) and Lou Marini (sax).

Released in December 1978 by Atlantic Records, the album achieved double-platinum status, while reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. The two singles - released in 1979 - Rubber Biscuit and Soul Man, peaked at numbers 37 and 14, respectively, on the Billboard Hot 100.

Aykroyd and Belushi had fun - especially with the oftentimes over-the-top stage antics - but their aim was true in singing the blues.

  Blues education   August 9, 2007

While we tend not to take John and Dan seriously, in this case they are. And it's seriously entertaining.

The real credit needs to go to the orignal authors of the music they cover. But, if nothing else, this is a great way to get an education in some classic Jazz.

Not many white guys can pull off "singin' the blues". It's worth listening just for that!
