This little cruet works very well; place your finger on the stopper, turn the bottle over, and wait a beat to feel the air bubble travel up the stopper groove -- and then the oil flows out carefully. No leaks.

You have plenty of time to place it where you want. I use peanut oil in it and use it for drizzling oil into a saute pan and for drizzling a little oil onto steamed vegetables.

My thanks to the reviewer who warned about carefully unpacking the product; the stopper is lightweight and packed in the top -- you might miss it indeed and think it's only packing material. So take care and don't drop it.

This is a very nice looking cruet. Very cute. I'm going to order another one; I want to have another one in reserve, in case I break it. I did wash it in the dishwasher; but I placed it inside a plastic baby bottle parts cage made for dishwashers, which you can get in the baby section at Target, for example.

* Near to the bottom the glass feels just a bit thin. I worry every time I set this down on our granite countertop.
* Also, the spouts design is a bit goofy. When going to start the pour, it takes a moment to fill up. When finishing, it tends to keep dripping.
* The surface takes fingerprints badly.
* While it did seem a bit small at first, I actually find that it suits my needs perfectly. Sure, you might find yourself refilling it often on an especially oily week, but if you really need more oil than this thing can hold, you should probably be using a bottle anyway.

These elegantly designed bottles are ideal for dinner table use. What I like best is that they do not leak like my previous ones. That's because the stopper end is made of ground glass. I worked in a research laboratory for many years and the reagent bottles we use make use of this design whenever a tight seal is needed. There is a small opening in the glass stopper that allows air into the bottle but the contents of the bottle will not come out of this opening during use.

The lid fits snugly and securely into the base. Excellent for dispensing vinegar or oil at the table.

I was surprised how small it was ! Cute for soy sauce maybe, but too small for storing olive oil. Specialty oils lke sesame, or grape seed oil ect. would be fine. The glass was very, very thin though and did not seem durable.
