| Customer Reviews My favorite knife of many...too many May 12, 2008 S. Kochel (Ventura, California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Knife Review: I own a lot of knives. Let me list some: Recon Tanto, Microtech Scarab, Benchmade Butterfly, Sypderco Endura, Swamp Rat, Gerber Hunter, CRKT Tanto, etc... Now of all these knives (which is just a off the top of my head sample of what I own)...this is my favorite one. Here's why: If I was going to live in a land like Jurassic Park out in the wild where I need a strong knife to defend myself with perhaps...but mostly to do heavy and light tasks with and have it last forever, I would want my Swamp Rat. If I was going to go hiking on a long day hike where I might need a knife, I would take the Gerber Hunter. If I had to impress some younger person I would bring the Butterfly. If I had to fight an intruder in my house I would use the CRKT Tanto (over the Recon Tanto because of the better balance and skull crusher pommel) If I had to take a knife out on the town, thinking I might run into trouble, and then have to cut some rope (it has full serrations) I might take the Spyderco. And...If I had to impress some techie person I would bring the Microtech. However, if took me a while to learn in my life that my life isn't really an action adventure movie waiting to happen, and I am not going to have to defend my life with my knife on a regular basis and that people that don't even carry knives for defense are generally safe. As hard as the first truth was to accept, the second was relieving. So now, I want a knife to carry which, while it would be just acceptable for simple defense, is light, sharp and easy to use. This knife is all of those things, and it's very sharp looking in my opinion. It's thin blade if fine for all but the harder tasks, and this combined with it's light thin handle makes it so light to carry. Nevertheless despite it's lightness, it's plenty strong for normal city living activities that don't involve lots of heavy rope, wood, bamboo, insurgents, bears, or velocaraptors. So, this is it, my EDC (Everyday Carry, for you non-knife nuts, like me. Note: I should mention how this is my first "axis-lock" knife, and I was skeptical at first, but now I love it! Great knife... Now if the world would just hurry up and be attacked by terrorist dinosaurs I would be able to justify having some of my other knives.
