Product Description In Belgium, waffles are served as sugar sprinkled desserts, or with fruit and ice cream or whipped cream. Here in the States many enjoy them with butter and maple syrup as a breakfast treat. The extra deep square pockets of these light, crisp, 1" deep waffles are ideal for collecting butter, syrup, and sauces. Easy to make, you simply preheat the waffler for 3 minutes per side, pour one cup into the center of the side last heated, close the waffler, cook for 30 seconds on one side, then flip. Continue to bake for 2-3 more minutes or until the steam stops and then open and release your delicious waffle!
Amazon.com Review Just look at this old-fashioned Belgian waffler and you can smell the aroma of crisp browned waffles awash in berries and whipped cream or running with melted butter and syrup--surely it's a trick of the memory. Making four of those deep-pocketed beauties at once with this waffler is no trick, though. Simply preheat the cast-aluminum waffler on a gas or electric stovetop: first one side, then the other. Pour in your batter, close the waffler, and cook for 30 seconds; then flip the waffler over and cook two to three minutes more. The waffler is 8-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches and has stay-cool plastic handles. It needs to be hand washed in soapy water. --Fred Brack

I've had this waffle iron for twenty years, and it still makes excellent waffles -- what electric appliance could do that? This was the best cookware investment I have ever made.
The Only Non-electric Waffle Iron You'll Ever Need March 24, 2008 Donna K. Mcclish (Alexandria, VA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this waffle iron four years ago. And, I went through quite a few batches of waffle batter until I could heat the iron on the stove properly. But, after a while I was making the tastiest waffles on the block. Once I got the hang of using this waffler, I got rid of my electric waffle iron! I end with one word of advice. Please be sure to grease this waffle iron before you pour the batter on the grids.

It took a month and a half to get the wrong waffler. Why in the world would nordic make one without the temp gauges in it? It was totaly worthless to me. thanks but NO thanks I sent it back. cost me 8.45 to return it. Kinda leaves me out in the cold. Rich

Wow! Magnificent waffles (and I've tasted my share) first time off the volley. How, you may ask, those 1-2 star reviewers? Oil the waffler lightly before the pre-heat. They're right, there is NO such thing as a completely stick-free waffler out there. And for those of you in love with teflon, good luck achieving the light crisp crunch exterior that yields to a light fluffy interior possible with this waffler. Waffle afficionados told me I had to find an old non-teflon waffler on e-bay or at a flea market. Imagine my surprise to run into this at a nearby kitchen supply store. Good thing I had not read the Amazon reviews, I might have been scared off. So make their suggested batter, lightly oil, pre-heat, pour batter and 3 minutes later--the BEST waffles out there. Merci, NordicWare.
No thermo! January 9, 2007 Jay Mueller (Baywood Park, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This purchase was for a gift. I've owned and enjoyed a Nordic Ware Belgian Waffler for several years. I was dismayed to find that they've removed the two thermometers from the unit. They were integral to the ease of use. Too bad, I would've given it 5 stars otherwise. They still are a great unit though and the best bet for compact storage needs - no bulk at all.
