Amazon.com Eric Clapton's first live album since 1992's zeitgeist-capturing Unplugged, is, as one would expect, full of well-tailored highlights from his back-catalog of bristly, well-kept blues. Recorded in Los Angeles and Tokyo during his 2001 world tour, and featuring the accompaniment from the likes of Andy Fairweather-Low and Billy Preston, it's an album that serves to satisfy both Clapton purists (there's a four-song sequence of tracks from Pilgrim, shorn of their original anodyne synthesizer embellishments) and adult pop fans who prefer their blues from the decanter rather than the bottle ("Tears in Heaven," a sublime "Bell Bottom Blues," a rather poised, applause-riddled "Layla"). One More Car is an engaging live document that finds EC far from asleep at the wheel. --Kevin Maidment

I enjoy listening to this set a good deal. It's a good collection of material from a live performance, good but not great. There's too much of an emphasis on Cream material whereas I had enough of that when I purchased 24 Nights several years ago. The whole thing should have been laid back, like in the style of Reptile or Change the World. I am back to buying all Eric Clapton releases after getting annoyed with him after the release of August back in the 1980s. I even liked the Road to Escondido. Glad to have you back, Eric !
A Must have 2disc Live Album!!!!! March 31, 2007 Jason J. Sum (Carlyle, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is one of the best live cd's I've ever listned to! All the songs sound really tight, You can close your eyes and imagine your in the same room with Clapton. The guitar work is second to know. Mr. Clapton's voice sounds so relaxed and soulful If you love classic rock. I highly recommend this great set from one of the best Modern guitarist who ever lived! 9.7/10
This is one of the Best Rock Albums of the Modern Rock Era February 16, 2007 Rudolf Penner 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am not an Eric Clapton fan. In fact I find him boring; but this is different. A friend of mine had this thing - and I asked who the hell it was. Eric Clapton - What, I said. This has got to be one of the hottest albums of recent times. Brings together old-style rock 'n' roll and the refinement of TV appearances with those super-polished studio drummers and bassists. A burst of energy! The video's exceptional too. Some versions have the 2 CDs and the DVD. Not this one, tho.
Retire Already! December 18, 2006 Eldrecko 0 out of 14 found this review helpful
Eric Clapton = Most overrated popular musician of the 20th century, and this album only cements that fact. Haven't you sucked the life out of Robert Johnson enough?
Just plain flat and awful October 8, 2006 Robert Leon (Somewhere, Worldland) 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
Two stars because it's EC. However, i kept waiting for this to get some heart and soul and it never happened. I have no problem with Eric finishing off with Somewhere over the rainbow, but I thought he was going to finish it off with a gut wrenching searing solo, ala "Ain't nobody's business..." but he never did. I like to think of this as "Eric Plays the Holiday Inn, Altoona PA". I think that the true testament of a CD is how much it sells for on the "Amazon Used" marketplace. If a double CD is selling for less than $5 then that really shows you how good it is, currently its going for $3.47. So all I have to say to those that don't like my review is that you have never actually listened to the CD or secretly you agree, have sold your copy of it and now feel a little guilty. Love you Eric, but sadly you missed here.
