To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Curious George's debut, this special edition is a collection of seven classic adventures by Margret and H.A. Rey, along with an introduction by critic Leonard Marcus, a retrospective note by publisher Anita Silvey, a history of the Reys by Dee Jones, curator of the de Grummond Children's Literature Collection, and a photo album. The many generations of fans of the "good little monkey who was always very curious" will be fascinated to learn how H.A. and Margret escaped on bicycle from German-occupied Paris, with just their winter coats and several picture books (including a draft of Curious George, then called Fifi) strapped to the racks. Photos and essays reveal H.A. to have been a gentle, humorous man, while Margret, by all accounts, was spirited and brutally direct, with a keen business mind. I was given this as a nostalgic birthday gift a few years ago and was greatly charmed. I don't even think I read all of those when I was little, so it was sweet to see them again after so many years. Curious George is the story of the "man in the yellow hat" who has brought back an inquisitive and mischievous monkey, Curious George. The stories usually involve a jungle-raised monkey getting into all kinds of trouble in the city, but all ends well and George comes home safely in the end - and no one really can stay mad at him.
This book is a handsome edition with a good binding and high quality printing. (The colors look good, etc.) I don't really like the glossy pages for book that will be loved to pieces by a child, but if you want this for a gift edition, it's perfect. I suggest having this as something you would read to a child, since it's kind of big and you wouldn't want to drop it on a grown-up foot.

My youngest son likes monkeys a lot and George was a favorite of mine when i was little. He loves the book and read all of it by himself. It took him quite a while because it is a very long book and it is also well made.

obviously great stories and so many of them. however, i think it's more fun for a little person to be able to go through multiple books versus one cmbersome edition. but a great value in hard cover
