I took this drug for 1 month and was out walking when suddenly my heart started pounding in my chest so forcefully that I fell to my knees. My heart was skipping beats such that I had difficulty breathing. My cardiologist verified the ventricular arrhythmia. Something I'd never had before. That was 10 years ago and I've been treated for arrhythmia with a different drug ever since. For me, it is an awful debilitating disease that has significantly diminished my quality of living.
took 120mg daily just for 2 days ended up in hospital with severe reaction pain in chest and burning all over body plus very fast pulse,i am allergic to a lot of meds and this was the last one to try so dont know what happens now maybe another ablation
I was taking a low dose of Verapamil for about 6 months. My Dr increased my dose to 120mg and with days i noticed 3 red bumps in the center of my neck. The bumps slowly went away but the skin around them became very red. The “rash” spread and was symmetrical all over my neck and chest. I went to the dermatologist and they didn’t know what it was, but treated me for about 6 months as a fungal infection. I finally made them take a biopsy. It came back as drug eruption. The verapamil caused my body to attack itself. Still trying to find another medication for my high bp.

I've been on 240mg slow release ER capsules for about 3 months now. Take on every morning with breakfast and a large glass of water. It seems to work for the most part but I still get a fast heart rate when breathing in deeply (occasionally), bending over, and sometimes just randomly when sitting still. I have experienced light headedness, a moderate pressure feeling in my chest due to a slow heart rate (but not too slow, around 50bpm and 45bpm in my sleep). Blood pressure has dropped considerably sometimes as low as 90/60. My bp used to be 130/90. I've been constipated, tired easily. Not a very pleasant drug but until I get another catheter ablation done it's what I have to live with I suppose.
After using the extended release tablet of Verapamil 180mg., I ended up in the hospital with a pulse of 40 bpm. I had been on the medication for about 10 years. I have had bouts of constipation in the last 2 years, where I had to give myself an enema. In the last 2 years, I started to have more heart burn. These are all symptoms of side effect. It seems that they appeared after using the medication after 8 years. I have also had PVC's, SVT's, and not I am wondering if this also a side effect?
I'm On a dose of 240mg. It has lowered my blood pressure and helped my headaches also.
The drug I am taking is Verapamil Slow Release 240 mg. and I have been taking it for the past couple of months. I believe that it helped my condition but every so often the symptoms recur. With regards to side effects, this drug made me constipated.
i should have investigated the side effects of this drug. I have been sluggish and light headed, but my racing heart problems have stopped. verpamil 120 2 times daily
Since I have only been on this drug for a few days I can't really tell if it is going to totally help or not. So far It seems to be helping. I have small palpitations. As far as constipation I have no problem but I have been on Miralax everyday since I had surgery 2 years ago. I was on Cardizem for a week and half and had terrific throbbing in the head and chest so was changed to the Verapamil and have had no bad side effects yet.

I use it for atrial flutter, a-fib and SVT. The symptoms seem to be about the same I haven't really seen a difference. I have been on this for over a year.
take verapamil 240mg at bed time with 50 mg of topamax, this combo has worked the best for me.
After having a stent placed for right coronary artery blockage and chest pain, I was still having chest pain. My Dr. tried different meds and nfound that I was having coronary artery spasms. He prescribed verapamil 120mg and the pain finally stopped. Thank God.
Because I have asthma we had to find a drug that doesn't interfere with the asthma meds{beta blockers did help much better but very much interfere and made the asthma worse}this drug has worked the best with the asthma drugs but it's not perfect I still have an occational irregular heart beat that almost feels like a skip but I can deal with the occational problem so I can also breath.
