Side Effects

What are the side effects ofArtesunate (Intravenous)?

Call your doctor at once if you have:

  • jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
  • pale or yellowed skin, dark colored urine;

  • kidney problems--swelling, urinating less, feeling tired or short of breath.

Common side effects may include:

  • kidney problems;
  • jaundice; or
  • abnormal urine tests.

How to takeArtesunate (Intravenous)?

UseArtesunate (Intravenous)exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

Artesunate is injected into a vein by a healthcare provider.

You may be given an additional malaria medicine during or after treatment with artesunate.

Artesunate injections are usually given every day until you can take malaria medication by mouth.

You will need medical tests for 4 weeks after you finish artesunate treatments.
