Aloe vera topical is made from the extract of the aloe vera plant leaf. Aloe vera is also known as Burn Plant, Elephant's Gall, Ghee-Kunwar, Hsiang-Dan, Kanya, Kumari, Lily of the Desert, Miracle Plant, and other names.

Aloe vera topical has been used in alternative medicine as apossibly effectiveaid in treating cold sores, itching or rash inside the mouth (Lichen planus), or psoriasis. Aloe vera topical may have been combined with other plants or extracts in a specific preparation to treat these conditions.

Research has shown that aloe vera topicalmay not be effectivein preventing sunburn, reducing skin damage caused by radiation cancer treatment, or improving the immune system in people with HIV (human immunodeficiency virus).

Other usesnot proven with researchhave included diaper rash, dry skin, dandruff, frostbite, repelling insects, and healing burns, bedsores, and other wounds.

It is not certain whether aloe vera topical is effective in treating any medical condition. Medicinal use of this product has not been approved by the FDA. Aloe vera topical should not be used in place of medication prescribed for you by your doctor.
