Florida and Texas governors are upholding bans on mandates as cases soar.The New York Timesdetailedhow Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott both refuse to budge on their policies banning mask mandates and other aggressive measures to combat the spread of COVID-19, despite hospitals in both states being overwhelmed by coronavirus cases.

Washington State has mandated vaccines for state employees and healthcare workers.Governor Jay Inslee on Monday issued a sweeping order requiring most Washington state employees — along with hundreds of thousands of healthcare workers — to get vaccinated soon or lose their jobs,according to theSeattle Times. Governors in California and New Yorkhave also announced COVID-19 vaccine mandatesfor state employees.

The Canada Border Services Agency did not estimate how many U.S. residents it expects to cross the border, but it suggested travelers might face long lines.

Three-quarters of U.K. adults are now fully vaxxed.According to the BBC, more than 75 percent of adults in the United Kingdom have now received two COVID-19 jabs, the government has said. A total of 39,688,566 people have now received both doses, while another seven million have only had a single dose. Boris Johnson described the milestone in the vaccine rollout as a “huge national achievement.”

TheCDC’s COVID Data Trackercurrently shows that 71.1 percent of Americans over the age of 18 have received at least one shot, and 61.1 percent are fully inoculated.
