Wages have risen the most in 20 years.Analysis from the Associated Pressindicates that wages and salaries climbed in the three months ending in September by the most on records that date back 20 years as companies have been forced to offer higher pay to fill a near-record number of available jobs.Labor Department figures released Fridayshow that pay rose 1.5 percent in the third quarter — a sharp increase from 0.9 percent in the previous quarter.

The European Medicines Agency is seeking more info on heart risks from vaccines.The European Medicines Agency (EMA) on Thursday saidthat it is assessing more information on the risk of inflammatory conditions of the heart (myocarditisandpericarditis) tied to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Separately, the agency said that there is currently insufficient evidence of a possible link between COVID-19 vaccines and very rare cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS). The EMA is also reviewing rare incidents of capillary leak syndrome among Moderna recipients.

The study examining more than 7,000 people across nine states who were hospitalized with COVID-like illness found that those who were unvaccinated and had a recent infection were 5 times more likely to have COVID-19 than those who were recently fully vaccinated and did not have a prior infection. The data demonstrates that vaccination can provide a higher, more robust, and more consistent level of immunity to protect people from hospitalization for COVID-19 than infection alone for at least six months.

“We now have additional evidence that reaffirms the importance of COVID-19 vaccines, even if you have had prior infection,” said CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, MD, MPH, in a statement.
