Product Description It's a compact, value-priced sound system. And yet the Altec Lansing VS2420 packs an incredible wallop. Delivering crisp, clean sound from custom-engineered dual, full-range 2.5" speakers. You get surprising highs, mid-range and lows from efficient little satellites that take up a minimum amount of space on your desk. Controls are right on the front of the speaker. A handy headphone jack is right nearby, too. And there's even a secondary input jack that lets you connect your MP3 or CD player while still linked to your PC.

If you are looking for a basic speaker more like an upgrade from the original factory speakers this is it.I been looking for a speaker for my Dell XP, nothing fancy but something that I can enjoy, listening to cd's, while surfing the web. These will do the job. The speakers even got a little bass to them. I was really surprise,I brought these at Staples for 19.99 with free shipping. I ordered them on Saturday and was at my door step Monday. I am very happy with them, they suite my needs. Prior I had brought a pair of IMicro multi media Hi-Fi Stereo System Speakers Model #IMD168B,please dont waste your money they are half the size of these speakers and they really do suck and they run about the same price. I love these speakers they are basic and just what I wanted also if you want something basic buy these, but if your needs are more I would stay with this brand but you are going to spend more money.
Great price and quality December 17, 2008 C. Cheng (New York, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just got today at Staples for $20. Totally love it for the cost, and quality just what I am looking for. I test it a little, and here is the best result I come up with. For those think this is not a great speakers, maybe you should try this first. I set my computer output volume to about Half way, then turn the Atlec speaker up to max. The sound output seems balance with the amp output. Works for me. This is a personal speaker system. Not for someone who want to play it out loud and expect for the quality in compare with other speaker system that cost more than $100. Definitely a great buy. I give it 4 stars because the bass is a little too much for me, if there is bass control, it would worth more than 5 stars.
Good value December 6, 2008 Raynaldo Ramos 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination but I know what I like and these speakers sound great to me when when watching on line music videos and the sound is even better when watching dvd movies on my computer. And they pack a punch when I want the music loud! I love the mp3 option that you don't always find on lower end computer speakers.
Good Basic Speaker July 30, 2008 David Pettit (MD) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm very pleased with the speakers. Good quality sound for such a compact inexpensive setup. I also like that it uses a standard power plug instead of a transformer. Excellent choice for a small space. The controls are easy to use. Power is by push button, instead of knob to fiddle with.
not for classical music March 28, 2008 Frank (NY) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Altec Lansing VS2420 speakers were relatively cheap, but you get what you pay for. They are OK for basic computer use, but not for listening to classical music. I am not a demanding listener but the music delivered by these speakers is frequently accompanied by static when listening to on line radio classical music and sometimes when listening to CD's. If you find that annoying, don't purchase them. Otherwise they are adequate.
