Love it! My Zen player goes with me to the gym and on travel. All of my portable electronics get the rough & tumble so durability is as essential as ease of use and sound quality which is why the engineer in me insists on protective cases (BB, iPod, now Zen). When I bought this, my wife took one look at it (she also has a Zen) and asked: "that's nice. Where's yours?"
Good idea badly implemented January 6, 2009 Embarrassing Dad
Offers great all-around protection for your Zen, but at the cost of not having easy access to your ports (you have to remove the Zen from the case to use the USB port, etc). Also, as other reviewers have mentioned, the case fits so tightly that it will push against the screen in areas, creating "hot spots" on the screen. And last but not least, it scratches very easily. After a few days of use it was scratched to the point that I stopped using it and just bought a good plastic screen protector instead.
Not perfect, but good nonetheless December 31, 2008 The set of all sets that are not self listing (NY United States)
PRO: it protects the screen. You just paid a bunch of dough for your zen. Do you really want permanent scratches on it? Also, I can set it on my desktop (via the ever-so-convienent stander-thingie on the back) and run my PC speakers through it if I want. It does what it says it will do, and it's worth the cost. Plus, you won't need those screen protectors (i-nique Topcoat Anti-Glare Advanced Screen Protector kit (Creative Zen) 4GB / 8GB)if you buy this case. CON: the far-right button is hard to push when the Zen is in the case. That's an issue, as the far right button is the "skip forward" button. Also, the metal clip is pretty insecure. I wouldn't attach it to anything that might jiggle around. Either it or the plastic clip mechanism that seals the case up might give, thus defeating the whole reason for buying the case in the first place. Still, I'd buy this case again if it broke.
Excellent Case December 29, 2008 J. Cecil
Lets face it, the Zen Player, despite the wonderful features, feels very cheap and fragile. However, once this case is on, the Zen feels extremely sturdy and durable. I never take the case off of my Zen. All of the buttons are accessible through the case, and head phones and USB cables can plug in just fine. The belt clip is a great feature also. It is very secure and easy to reach when clipped on a belt. Sadly, the leather connecting the clip to the case is of very poor quality. Mine broke after just a couple of months use. Luckily, duct tape intervened and it now holds together stronger than ever. I would recommend taping it from the very start to avoid the same problem. It does not scratch easily, and has stayed very clear despite frequent use. The video stand I imagine would be great for some people, however I never use it. If you own a Creative Zen Player, then this case is a vital necessity that you can not do without.
Good Protective Case, But Blocks SD Slot December 27, 2008 CFH (Blue Ridge Summit, PA USA)
The "Creative Hard Plastic Case for Zen" is solid and well made protective shell for the Zen. The crystal clear case fits perfectly on the device, protecting the screen and body, while leaving MOST of the important buttons and ports open. The noticeable exception that the case covers the SD expansion slot, which is an issue for me since I have the 4gb version of the Zen and intend to use SD cards for video. The case has a built in stand that folds flush with the body when not in use. This is a nice feature and actually is very useful. The metal ring clip is sturdy and works well. It is useful for connecting the Zen to a belt loop or backpack strap. No issues with this clip at all. Overall this is a great case, with the exception of the blocked SD port. Recommended, if the SD port problem is not an issue for you. Also see Clip-on Case w/ Belt Clip for Creative Zen, Clear, this provides access to the SD slot, but does not have the metal clip.
