We bought the DGB-700BC for the bean hopper and grind and brew feature. We usually brewed two 12 cup pots a day with fresh ground beans. After a month the grinders would fail,we followed all instructions and cleaning details. The grinder is plastic and cannot stand up to the work load we gave it.I took it back and tried another one, after 3 units died in the same time frame and work load we decided to go in a different direction. It is a great idea and might work well for less demanding users.I think the company engineers need to go with a stainless blade to overcome the problems. Stay away if you make lots of coffee.
Don't waste your time June 26, 2008 Kenneth R. Harris (Jax, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have returned 2 within 1 week, such as heat plate not working, grinder not working. This one is a learning experience, rinse out the basket and spin thingy, place back in the coffee maker wet, and coffee grounds get wet, never make it to the basket, and you have hot water only. Next, make a total mess taking everything apart, unclog the wet coffee grounds, make another huge mess, cuss, and wiss you could grab the idiot who designed this. This has happened 3 times in less than a week before I found out to dry everything out the night b4, or you'll be sorry. Sorry design & engineering, IMHO!
Best coffee maker we've ever had!!! June 25, 2008 Stevarn (Burbank, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this coffee maker about a month ago and I can say without hesitation that it's the best coffee maker we've ever used. There is nothing like having your coffee made with fresh ground beans in the morning. What a difference this makes over the pre-ground beans, we're never going back. The grinder is a little noisy but that only lasts for about 30 seconds. It is important to clean the coffee chute (a very simple process) about every two weeks and you'll know when that becomes necessary because the coffee becomes a little weaker. Everything you need to know about the coffee maker's care is explained in the included DVD. It's much easier to use on a daily basis than our previous coffee maker because you don't have to ever measure the coffee! Simply keep the hopper at least half full and this unit measures the coffee and places it into the filter basket for you. All you have to do is to make sure you place a clean filter into the basket and add the water (I do this the night before) and it does the rest. The next morning I just press the brew button and away it goes!
Best coffee I ever had, including in coffee shop April 11, 2008 P. Roszell (Morrison, CO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Machine works as advertised, no problems at all. Not sure what the person who complained about cleanup was referring to. I love the coffee this machine makes, I think it is because the beans get properly ground just before brewing. Very well designed machine, no problems whatsoever.
No problems here, excellent coffee! March 16, 2008 Kevin C. Hadacek 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have made 12 pots of coffee and this is a wonderful unit, a big improvement over the earlier model. You do not have to measure the coffee, just add the beans to the hopper and fill the h2o tank, make your strength selection and your in for a treat! Excellent coffee.
