I was having many issues with the DGL-3420 and sent my issues to d-link (many of the same ones listed on other reviews). Amazingly after a couple months of my email d-link released a new firmware addressing all my issues. For any current owners be sure to try the new firmware.
Works Great for DirecTV On-Demand July 28, 2008 swampwalker (Houma, Louisiana) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I use this with the D-Link DGL-4300 for DirecTV On-Demand service and have no problems whatsoever. I have the Model HR20-700 satellite receiver. It has very fast download speeds and WPA2 encryption was smooth to set up. I have this one set about 90 feet from the router and the signal strength is excellent. I'm going to purchase more of these adapters in the future when I add more HD DVR satellite receivers.
Lag free June 27, 2008 Nerdy Dad (NY, USA)
Works as advertised when paired with DGL-4300 router...easy set up. Gameplay on Halo 3, COD4, Battlefield, etc is just like wired connection. I have 2 xbox360 (one wired to router and wireless) no issues with disconnection and lag due to sharing...
Good when it works... May 11, 2008 Adam Connor (Austin, TX USA)
I have two of these devices. They have to be configured through a web-only setup, which is a bit of a drag. I am using WPA encryption. The first one works great. The second one I cannot get correctly set up for love nor money; not sure if it's a different revision of the hardware or what. (I bought it later than the first.) Some notable glitches: - you can save your configuration, but if you try to load it again you get "CFG checksum error.", i.e., it doesn't work. - there is a wizard but it doesn't consider the possibility of WPA encryption. - the user interface is truly terrible; e.g., except for the wizard you cannot set the channel. - the latest version of the firmware doesn't work with the XBox360 or WPA at all -- even though I'm using a D-Link DGL-4300 router. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Update: I eventually got it to work. Here is what I did. 1) Changed the password on the router 2) Changed the password on the DGL-3420 -- nope still didn't work 3) Changed them both back... and suddenly, they worked. I'm not sure _why_ it worked, but it did. I know they were getting the same passwords because I was copying and pasting from a text file. I know that I changed it back to exactly what it was before, because other devices on the network didn't have to be reconfigured (beyond resetting active connections). Still not the kind of thing I'm looking for in a product. When 802.11n stabilizes a bit more and I buy new equipment, it will NOT be D-Link.
Not bad but Amazon price is too much for an xbox 1 adapter January 28, 2008 Crusade (Arlington va) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Have one connected to my xbox 360.Like the previous review said setup is buggy. The latest firmware update seems to have fixed autoconnect problem i had with xbox live.It now connects as quiclky as my 360 turns on.Don't see any real disadvantage over using a network cable.Streaming video and audio are almost instant even with higher res. It was designed for the Xbox 1,i have a hard time seeing anyone paying more than $50 for it. It will work right out of the box but to get it to work well you'll need to set it up for your system. If your not a pc wiz i would go with the OEM Xbox 360 adapter. Overall i am happy with it.It is a workhorse.
