Well made, great suction, adjusts 90 degrees but if your windshield has alot of rake it will block any signals coming from the front of the vehicle. If you are using it for a GPS antenna or XM/Sirius antenna would work well.
great, but could be better September 7, 2008 Mikkyo (Pittsburgh, PA USA)
The suction cup sticks very well, without a doubt. The only con that I have, if you look at the ad photo, it appears that the unit that is sitting on the mount would clear the suction cup, say for a radar detector. Take a close look at the ad photo. Notice that the suction cup is mounted vertically. Windshields are not typically vertical. When the mount is stuck to the windshield, because of the angle, the radar detector will not clear the suction cup, its 'view' is obstructed. I ended up mounting the radar detector and mount upside down, which is an option - however, with the escort detectors slanted face, when it is upside down, it now tilts away from the driver. Buttons and vol controls are also reversed. Just makes things a little awkward. The support neck of the base needs redesigned to accomodate the slant of a windshield.
Great product... read review before buying for radar detectors though. August 15, 2008 Derek D. Dewald (Louisiana, USA)
I purchased this product with the intention of mounting it in the windshield of my Nissan Altima to hold my Escort Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector. I received the product in a timely fashion. Just so you know, there is nothing on the mount part to hold on to a radar detector. You're going to need some Velcro or something to hold it in place. Placing it on top of the mount, I was concerned about the suction cup blocking the sensors on the front of the detector (the suction cup is HUGE). I went to the store and purchased some Velcro industrial strength (also available on Amazon). I stuck some on the bottom of the mounting piece and on top of the detector and let it set for at least 12 hours. Now I can just stick the detector to the bottom of the mount and have no worries since the Velcro is strong as well. A very stable setup! I would also add that I have it mounted upside-down vs. the way it is in the pictures. Anyway, as far as the product goes... PROS- Very sturdy, HUGE suction cup that stays plastered to the windshield, even in the mid-summer Louisiana heat and humidity, doesn't look bad, doesn't have to be taken down to be able to use a sunshade CONS- Even after you use the suction release switch and pull on the raised piece of the suction cup, you still need to pry it off of the windshield unless you want to run the risk of breaking it, no included way of mounting a radar detector and can only be mounted one way without obstructing the detector
It literally sucks June 18, 2008 liptonme (Houston, TX)
I put it on a glossy paint door, it sucked. I put it on the bathroom mirror, it sucked. I was afraid to pull hard, the mirror may fall from the wall. It's in my car now, has yet to fall off. I noticed there is a spring mechanism, appears to reduce the impact of heavy items attached. So even if there was a heavy jerk, the spring would reduce the force. I've noticed other suction cups on similar items have a smaller contact patch as well. Works great... my $.02
Useful Accessory May 28, 2008 Barry (Grand Prairie, TX)
I purchased this product to mount an XM satellite radio antenna inside a company vehicle used by multiple drivers. This allows me to leave the anntena and it's wiring configured for easy re-installation whenever I use the vehicle. This product works as advertised for my application.
