If you are not accustomed to using all manual controls on a cam, then this DVD is essential. It explains all the important things you need to know. Most of this DVD content is not detailed in the HC1 manual, so you are far better off watching this DVD than bothering with the manual. It is a brilliant DVD for anyone who wants to make the most of this camera, and who doesn't yet have a crystal clear understanding on using the manual controls. It takes you step by step through the processs of changing settings on your HC1 and how to get better video. Best of all, Douglas Jensen explains things in a way which you will understand completely. It will enable you to get significantly better results consistently. An indispensable learning tool!

Though I've had a camera for maybe 10 years, I never really put much effort into figuring out how pros do things differently. This book explains how to set up the HC1, why you'd change the settings, and shows you the difference it makes (which can be a huge difference). Though I can't apply all of the techniques because of the subject I tend to shoot (my 2 year old), most have helped.

Even if you don't have the specific camcorder the book talks about, the techniques alone are worth the price if you're willing to apply them, or at least try.

A very good instructional video that not only guides you through the myriad of controls in the menu of the camera but also gives some clear pointers on how to shoot a better video. Get to know your camera and learn how to use this fine piece of equipment more than just to point and shoot. I watched different chapters of this video more than once and will be repeating some parts of it often. Inspirational.

If you splurged on the HDR-HC 1, then, please go ahead and buy this as well ! A good investment so you can use the camcorder better. This was my first camcorder purchase, so I was a novice when I bought it. The DVD was very helpful.

This DVD coveres everthing you need to know and will get you up and shooting right away. Unless you have plenty of time and love trial and error you need this instruction. Well organized and easy to understand everone who uses this will get something out of it.
