I wanted to share my experience with the purchase of a ST-X2 Garment steamer. "I LOVE IT" this has been the BEST purchase I have ever made. I had procrastinated for years and regret not buying one earlier in my life. Between work, kids and their school, home etc., I do not have time to iron but I do it anyway and hate it. Hate it because of the white streak marks left on my work pants, sweaters and skirts. Once I received the box, opened it and assembled the steamer it took all of about 5 minutes. It was an easy set up, filled the steamer with water and a minute later it was ready to go steaming away! I ironed my clothes for today in a snap I steam-pressed EVERYTHING I could get my hands on. I ran out of H20 and went back for another load. I pressed clothes that have been waiting to be ironed for two years. I cleaned my arm-chair (unbelievable) and took a couple of stains out an area rug. Good thing we don't have a poodle or it would be running around with straight hair right now. and they looked like they just came out of the drycleaners. I am sooo happy. You will not regret it.
The Best Steamer ! November 6, 2008 Chaim Stern 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had three garment steamers and the last one was the most expensive and after much research, highly rated It died after less then one year and I wanted to find one which was better and again, I did quite a bit research. Apparently Smartek is the best unless you want a professional steamer you may need for a company. I received this one last week, just in time to steam my huge winter wardrobe. The design is excellent!! It is far more powerful then any steamer I have had and the smaller tank means nothing, so easy to fill with regular water, not distilled. If you want to steam heavy cotton, I do not think any steamer will do the job. I would recommend this steamer to everyone!
Broken after 1 month. November 2, 2008 Jill Douglas (Mason City, IL United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The steamer has a great 1 minute warm up, but only after 1 month, the stand which holds the steamer started to bend and lean over. Of course I did not see this in any other review so just be warned.
I'll never use my iron again.... October 20, 2008 M. Byrne (Cambridge, MA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
...okay, maybe to do creases on trousers. This steamer is da bomb. I steamed two pairs of cargo pants, one pair of jeans, 20 linen napkins, four cotton blouses (Anthropologie styles, with trim and funky pleating), and a table cloth in 45 minutes, with one container full of water. It made every piece look almost as though it just came back from the cleaners--and without any threat of that horrid melted-fabric shine you get when you hold a hot iron over a pocket for too long. I was even able to use it in conjunction with a little Oxy Clean laundry spray to get some red wine stains out of my white linen table cloth. It worked like magic steaming them right out in about 2 minutes. With just a follow-up rinse, dry and full steaming, the table cloth looked new again. I can't wait to try it on my wool and cashmere sweaters this winter. I'm looking forward to keeping them in like-new shape and texture without dry cleaning or hand-washing. I'll never have that giant pile of hand-washing staring me down ever again!

The steam thing was so strange to me at first, but once I got the hang of it, I really liked it. I have 4 boys, and a lot of t-shirts. Each t-shirt took less than a minute. Excellent for dress pants that you rarely wear because it will remove any oders and will freshen them up. You will not get that crisp line but you will have wrinkle free clothes that will never be damaged no matter what material they are. Worth it if you have a lot of laundry.
